Biography
Farid Shafiyev has served as Chairman of the Center of Analysis of International Relations since 2019 and is also an Adjunct Lecturer at ADA University. He studied history and law at Baku State University, earned a Master’s degree in Public Administration from the Harvard Kennedy School, and completed his PhD in History at Carleton University. Since joining Azerbaijan’s Foreign Service in 1996, he has served in diplomatic postings at the Permanent Mission of Azerbaijan to the United Nations, the Embassy of Azerbaijan in Canada, and as Ambassador to Canada and the Czech Republic. Dr. Shafiyev is also the author of numerous academic and policy publications, including the book Resettling the Borderlands: State Relocations and Ethnic Conflict in the South Caucasus, published in 2018.
